Build vs Kitset — Which Option Suits Your Project?

Every shed project is unique, and at Mack Built Sheds, we know one size doesn’t fit all. Some clients prefer a fully managed build, while others like the flexibility of taking it on themselves.

Below, we explain the differences between our full build and kitset supply options.

Full Build

For those who want a stress-free solution, our full build service is ideal. We manage everything from earthworks up, including the concrete pad, all internal and external framing, cladding, and joinery — bringing your project to a lockable stage. From design and council consents to construction and final sign-off, our team ensures the process is seamless and delivered to the highest standard.

Exclusions: Plumbing, electrical, insulation, and interior fit-out (such as gib lining, kitchens, or bathrooms) are not included.

Perfect for:

  • Residential builds, including homes, garages, workshops, and home storage solutions

  • Lifestyle blocks needing a garage, workshop, or multifunctional shed

  • Farms requiring large-scale implement sheds, woolsheds, or machinery storage

  • Commercial sites where compliance, timelines, and professional oversight are critical

Kitset Supply

If you’d rather get hands-on or already have a trusted local builder, our kitset sheds provide the same Mack Built quality and durability, with the freedom to manage your own build. Each kitset includes engineered plans, premium NZ-compliant steel, and all the components required for assembly.

Ideal for:

  • Rural properties in remote locations with access to local builders

  • DIY-savvy owners looking to reduce labour costs

  • Smaller garages, workshops, or storage sheds you prefer to manage yourself

Whether you choose a full build or a kitset, every Mack Built project delivers the strength, style, and long-lasting quality our clients have come to trust.
